Oven project
This project began in 2013 and the aim of Initiative Africa Foundation was to create income for the
members as well as clean the environment off trash and polythene bags that litter the towns of
Kenya. The oven is a simple construction madeup of stone, mortar and ironsheets. The baking
area is airtight meaning no fumes can penetrate inside.
The group heats the oven using flammable garbage thus meaning they get free energy for baking
their cakes. The cakes are then sold to the local market after packaging for affordable prices. This
project has been able to create a source of income not only for the members but also for the
young men who collect the flammable garbage’s.
